About this skill
Each sheet uses a different currency but the same skills. Children read, decide the operation and write the answer with the correct sign.
How to teach it
- Use real coins whenever possible.
- Count the largest coins first.
- To make change, count up from the price to the amount paid.
Mistakes to watch for
- Mixing up coin sizes and values (a dime is smaller than a nickel).
- Forgetting the currency symbol.
