Worksheets
Comprehension begins with listening
Long before children can read independently, they can understand stories read aloud. Ask who was in the story, what happened and how the characters felt. The short stories listed here use decodable words so children can attempt them alone, but reading together is always a good plan.
Questions parents ask
What questions should I ask after a story?
Who was in it? Where did it happen? What happened first? How did the character feel? What do you think will happen next?
