Proportions & Ratios Worksheets
Write ratios, find equivalent ratios, solve proportions and calculate unit rates.

Comparing quantities
A ratio compares two quantities: 3 red beads to 5 blue beads is written 3:5. Equivalent ratios scale both parts by the same factor (3:5 = 6:10 = 9:15). A proportion says two ratios are equal, and solving one means finding the missing number. A unit rate is a ratio with 1 as the second part — for example, the price of one apple, or kilometres per hour.
Ratios are everywhere: recipes, map scales, exchange rates, speed and discounts. The sheets use varied contexts and currencies so they work for learners anywhere.
Questions parents ask
How is a ratio different from a fraction?
A fraction compares a part with a whole; a ratio can compare any two quantities, including part to part. 3:5 is not 3/5 unless the whole is 8 parts and you are comparing 3 with 8.
What is a unit rate?
A rate with 1 as the second quantity, such as 60 km per hour or 2 dollars per kilogram.
