Adverbs describe verbs. Most of the ones here end in -ly, which is the pattern worth learning first, though it is worth saying aloud that not all adverbs do.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Assuming every -ly word is an adverb — friendly and lonely are adjectives.
- Choosing the verb instead of the word describing it.
- Missing adverbs of time and place, like yesterday or outside.
One thing that helps
Ask: how? when? where? about the verb. If the word answers one of those, it is doing an adverb's job.
