Sentence or Fragment Worksheets
A fragment can be long, start with a capital and end with a period and still not be a sentence. That is the whole difficulty, and it is why the fragments on this sheet are deliberately as long as the sentences.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Judging by length — assuming anything long enough must be a sentence.
- Missing that a group beginning with because, while or after needs a main clause to finish it.
- Accepting a phrase with a verb form in it, like 'running across the field', as complete.
One thing that helps
Find who or what the group is about, then find what they are doing. If either is missing, it is a fragment however long it is.
