Why flashcards still work
Flashcards turn recall into a quick game, and recall is exactly what fact fluency needs. Short, frequent, low-stakes practice — a couple of minutes each day — beats long weekly sessions, and the sorted piles (known and not-yet-known) give a child a visible sense of progress.
These printable sets come with answer pages arranged so they land on the back of each card when printed double-sided. For very young children, begin with a small deck of ten or twelve cards and add more as they learn.
Questions parents ask
How do I print double-sided flashcards?
Print the front pages, put the same sheets back in the paper tray, and print the answer pages. Answers are mirrored so each lands behind its question. Print a test page first, as printers differ.
How many cards should a child practise at once?
Ten to fifteen. Add new cards only once most of the current deck is answered quickly and correctly.
