Mrs. Patel's bakery opened at six every morning. Biscuit the cat sat on the shelf and watched the bread.
One morning, a loaf was gone! Mrs. Patel looked on the shelf. She looked on the floor. She looked behind the oven.
“Biscuit,” she said, “did you see who took the loaf?” Biscuit only yawned.
Then Mrs. Patel heard a squeak. Under the table sat a tiny mouse with a big loaf, almost twice his size.
Mrs. Patel laughed. She cut off a slice for the mouse and put the rest back on the shelf. “Share and share alike,” she said. Biscuit went back to sleep.
