Counting Coins Worksheets
Counting coins is harder than counting objects because the coins are not worth the same, and the physically bigger coin is not always the more valuable one. Sorting by value before adding is the strategy that makes these sheets quick.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Counting the number of coins rather than their total value.
- Assuming the larger coin is worth more.
- Adding in the order the coins appear instead of largest first.
One thing that helps
Have the child write each coin's value above it before adding anything. It converts a money problem into an addition problem they can already do.
