2-Digit Addition With Regrouping Worksheets
On a mixed sheet a child can get most problems right while still not knowing how to carry, simply because only a few problems needed it. Every problem on this sheet requires regrouping at least once, which turns a vague sense of 'mostly fine' into a clear yes or no.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Writing the full two-digit sum in the ones column (17 instead of 7 carry 1).
- Carrying the digit but then forgetting to add it into the tens column.
- Carrying into a column that has already been added.
One thing that helps
Have the child say the carried ten out loud — 'eight and five is thirteen, that's one ten and three' — until the language is automatic. The spoken version is what transfers to three- and four-digit work.
