3-Digit Addition Worksheets
Three-digit addition is where carrying has to chain: a carry out of the ones can create a carry out of the tens. Children who learned carrying as a single trick rather than a repeatable step tend to handle the first carry and quietly drop the second.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Handling the first carry correctly and losing the second one.
- Running out of horizontal space and misaligning the hundreds column.
- Forgetting that a carry out of the hundreds creates a fourth digit.
One thing that helps
Watch for answers that are exactly 100 or 10 short of correct — that signature almost always means a dropped carry rather than an addition fact error.
