Adding Three Numbers Worksheets
Three addends is the first point where a child has to choose an order rather than follow one. Spotting that 7 + 3 makes a convenient ten before adding the 8 is a genuine strategy, and sheets like these are where it gets built.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Adding the first two numbers, writing that answer down, and forgetting the third.
- Carrying a two-digit amount out of the ones column and only carrying one of its digits.
- Not noticing pairs that make ten, which makes the whole sheet slower than it needs to be.
One thing that helps
Ask the child which two numbers they added first. If the answer is always 'the top two', the strategy has not landed yet.
