Adding Fractions With Unlike Denominators Worksheets
This is the hardest routine fraction skill, because it chains three things: find a common denominator, convert both fractions, then add. A child can be fluent at each step separately and still fail the combination, which is why these sheets keep the numbers small.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Adding straight across without converting at all.
- Converting one fraction and forgetting the other.
- Finding a common denominator correctly but scaling the numerator by the wrong factor.
One thing that helps
Insist on the converted problem being written out as a separate line. Trying to hold both conversions in the head is where most of the errors come from.
