Division With Remainders Worksheets
A remainder is the first time a division does not come out, and it unsettles children who have only met exact facts. The idea that needs to land is that the remainder must always be smaller than the divisor — once that is secure, remainders stop being guesswork.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Leaving a remainder larger than the divisor (writing 23 ÷ 4 as 4 r 7).
- Dropping the remainder entirely and giving only the quotient.
- Treating the remainder as a decimal without being asked to.
One thing that helps
Check every answer by multiplying back and adding the remainder. 5 × 4 + 3 = 23 confirms it in one step, and builds the habit that makes long division self-checking.
