Subtracting Decimals Worksheets
Decimal subtraction combines two error-prone skills: borrowing and decimal alignment. The combination that catches most children is a problem like 7 − 2.45, where the whole number has no visible decimal places at all.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Not writing 7 as 7.00 before subtracting.
- Borrowing correctly but misplacing the decimal point in the answer.
- Aligning on the last digit rather than the point.
One thing that helps
Include whole numbers deliberately. If a child can do 8.30 − 2.45 but not 8 − 2.45, the gap is the invisible zeros, not the subtraction.
