Multiplying Decimals Worksheets
Multiplying decimals does not need aligned points — which is exactly why children who just learned to align them get it wrong. Multiply as whole numbers, then count the total decimal places in both factors and place the point.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Aligning the decimal points, carried over from addition.
- Counting the decimal places in only one factor.
- Multiplying correctly and placing the point one position off.
One thing that helps
Estimate first: 4.2 × 7 is about 28, so an answer of 2.94 or 294 is wrong on sight. Estimation catches misplaced points better than re-checking the multiplication.
