2-Digit Addition Without Regrouping Worksheets
These sheets deliberately avoid carrying so the child practices one idea at a time: tens line up with tens, ones with ones. Every problem here is generated so that no column sums past nine, which means a wrong answer is almost always a place-value slip rather than a carrying mistake — much easier to diagnose.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Adding the tens column first, left to right, out of habit from reading.
- Misaligning the digits when copying a problem onto graph paper.
- Adding the two digits of a single number together (reading 34 as 3 + 4).
One thing that helps
Before moving on to carrying, check the child can explain why the 3 in 34 is worth thirty. If they cannot, regrouping will be memorized as a ritual rather than understood.
