Single-Digit Addition Worksheets
Single-digit addition is the layer everything else rests on, and the goal is not accuracy — it is speed without counting. A child who still counts up on fingers for 6 + 7 will stall later on column addition, because every column becomes a fresh counting exercise instead of a recalled fact.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Counting from one instead of counting on from the larger number — 8 + 3 should start at 8, not at 1.
- Treating 4 + 9 and 9 + 4 as two separate facts to learn rather than one.
- Writing the answer in the wrong place on a vertical layout, which looks like a math error but is a formatting habit.
One thing that helps
Time a sheet rather than only marking it. Twenty-five problems in under two minutes with two or fewer errors is the point at which the facts are genuinely recalled rather than reconstructed.
