Grade 3 Word Scramble Worksheets
Unscrambling a word is a spelling exercise disguised as a puzzle. The child has to hold the letters in mind and test arrangements against the patterns English actually allows, which is exactly the skill that makes spelling stick.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Working letter by letter from the left rather than looking for a familiar chunk like -ing, -tion or a consonant blend.
- Producing a real word that uses only some of the letters.
- Giving up on longer words before trying the vowels in different positions.
One thing that helps
Tell the child to find the vowels first and count them. A six-letter word with two vowels has far fewer possible arrangements than it looks, and spotting that turns guessing into reasoning.
