About this skill
A calendar is a mathematical object: counting, patterns and arithmetic all show up.
How to teach it
- Practise with a real analogue clock.
- Count by fives around the clock face.
- Say the hour hand first, then the minute hand.
Mistakes to watch for
- Mixing up the hour and minute hands.
- Writing 'half past 3' as 3:03 instead of 3:30.
