Missing Numbers Worksheets
Short number sequences with a gap in the middle test something a full chart does not: whether a child can work from both directions. Filling a gap from the number after it, by counting back, is a genuinely different skill from counting on.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Only ever working forwards, so a gap near the end of the sequence is hard.
- Mis-sequencing across a decade boundary.
- Reversing digits in the teens.
One thing that helps
Cover the numbers before the gap and ask the child to fill it anyway. It forces counting back, which is where the weakness usually is.
