Letter Aa Tracing Worksheets
Capital A and lowercase a share a page here because children meet them together and confuse them separately. Lowercase a: round back to the start, then straight down. The sheet gives a model letter, dotted letters to trace over, then empty guides — which is the order the skill actually transfers in.

What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Reversing a with d and g, the pair it is genuinely confused with at this age.
- Starting the letter at the wrong point, which produces a shape that looks right but cannot be written at speed.
- Floating above the baseline, or sitting the letter on the dotted midline instead of the solid line.
One thing that helps
Watch the starting point: a begins at two o'clock on the circle, not at the top. Starting at the top is what turns it into an o with a line.
