- 0The Water Cycle
Water never stops moving. The sun heats oceans, rivers and lakes, and the water turns into an invisible gas called water vapour. This is called evaporation.
High in the sky, the vapour cools and turns back into tiny drops that form clouds. This is called condensation.
When the drops grow heavy, they fall as rain, snow or hail. This is precipitation. The water runs into streams and rivers and flows back to the sea, and the cycle starts again.
