Cursive Letter Z Worksheets
Cursive z: across the top, down into a loop below the line. Every letter on this sheet starts and ends on the baseline, which is what lets it join to the letters either side. A cursive letter formed correctly in isolation but entered from the wrong place will not connect, and that shows up later as unreadable writing.

- 3. Z and z together
What to watch for when you grade this sheet
- Confusing cursive z with s and 2 — the same pair that causes trouble in print, made harder by the joining strokes.
- Entering the letter from the top rather than sweeping up from the baseline, so it cannot be joined.
- Printing the letter and adding entry and exit strokes afterwards.
One thing that helps
Print z is three straight strokes with no curves at all. Cursive z gains a descender loop, which surprises children who learned print first.
